Pirate Reviews

Now that the first draft is done things are getting back to our regular groove a bit more ... back in the studio with Jerry Bonham next Monday, taking on some remix work, etc. Also working on some remixes of our own al-bom while we twiddle our thumbs waiting for feedback from the small group we gave the cd to ... responses are trickling in but some people are taking their time (maybe that can't get thru it?). Anyway the first responses are really favorable except for a few people think a couple tracks are really awful, and other people love those same tracks, hard to know how to weigh it all. We've even gotten a few pirate reviews from people who weren't on the official list but somehow got ahold of the thing. Everybody has an opinion - that's fine by us it can only help the final product. But overall it's pretty obvious that though we've got some good material it doesn't quite all hang together yet, so we'll be working on some alt dot versions to see if we come up with a cohesive batch of tunes we can rightfully call an "al-bom."

On other news, doing some interview stuff here and there to try to get the word out that we've actually finished something. Reid Oda will be doing a freelance piece for Remix tomorrow on studio secrets or something so we are debating which ones to actually give out ... we'll probably give up everything because I'm a blabbermouth and I figure I'll be using all different plugins in two months anyways, though maybe Spesh will help us conserve a little secrecy with some artfully timed shin kicks.

Other news - the parties have had a really great vibe lately, a bit less shoulder to shoulder than we've had in the past but for Qoöl esp. this is nice, some room to dance, less panicky claustrophobic feeling navigating thru the crowd, etc. We are also having fun giving out Q-list memberships, great letters (silly to call them "applications" but I guess that's what they are), but at the moment we're giving the Q-list away left and right, there are just so many great people who we want at our events.

Goal for the week, try to not get sick from leftover Halloween candy. Kia and I only had about three trick-or-treaters ... after buying enough candy to feed an army. Stupid kids, we bought some really good stuff too and they totally missed out.
