Quick Thoughts

Signing lots of tracks to Loöq at the moment, we're getting tons of great stuff in the mail. some of it wrapped in brown paper and string with unidentifiable country codes.

Also reading some good books including Daniel Dennet's "Darwin's Dangerous Idea" ... this isn't new but for some reason i've just come across it recently. It's full of reasonable, not overreaching comparisons between genetic and memetic evolution ... it's making me think humanity is caught between a rock and a hard place from an evolutionary perspective (between the selfish gene that just wants us to eat, fuck, [possibly raise the kids], and die, and the selfish meme that just wants us to get "my sharona" stuck in our heads until it drives us mad). Ok this is an oversimplification, and when it comes down to it i'm a die-hard optimist and i think the Tree of Life is sacred, but i prefer to careen thru life with the veil at least partially lifted from my eyes, contemplating the dispassionate forces that compel us to act againt our true best interests, yet at the same time teasing us with skinnerian bursts of opiates so intense when we conform to the impulses provides by the evolutionary puppeteers (or take drugs instead to short circuit the whole business) that it makes the whole game seem fully worth it.

Thoughts? The soapbox has been unusually quiet lately. Come back at me with your rival cosmology, your grocery list, your thoughts re: the current state of electronic music, or an offer to re-fi my house at a 4.75 fixed mortgage.
